Ellie Tesher
Ellie Tesher is a respected advice columnist. Her internationally syndicated column ELLIE, was launched in September 2002. Readers quickly warmed to her wise and witty answers to readers asking for advice on life’s problems. Her column now appears in more than 30 newspapers across Canada and the United States including the Toronto Sun and the Chicago Sun Times, the original home paper of Ann Landers for over three decades.
Ellie brings a unique voice - smart, funny and practical - to the advice scene. She combines sharp insight and life experience with a background in social work. She guides the families featured on Outlaw In-laws through their troubles with compassion, dispensing invaluable advice in an informative and entertaining way.
Ellie has a personal perspective on the problems that families bring to her. She grew up with a depressive mother. Ellie went on to marry young and found herself dealing with divorce, single parenthood, a relationship with a live-in alcoholic partner, troubled teenagers, a parent with Alzheimer's, a second marriage, step-parenthood, family diversity, and career challenges. Through it all, she became a shining example of her own advice philosophy- that people can successfully overcome all kinds of obstacles, rise above them and inspire those around them to do so. Her personal insights are sharp and often humorous and she speaks with authority, clarity and passion.
Ellie is happily married to her second husband, journalist Vian Ewart. Between them they enjoy a family of five adult children and frequent surprises.
